Professional Referrals

Burnaby Hearing Centre welcomes referrals for all ages 4 years and older.

Our evaluation services:

• Diagnostic Hearing Evaluations—air, bone, speech, middle ear function testing
• Physician’s report with recommendations in your format of choice (email, fax or hardcopy) 
• Patient test fee: $75 (included in hearing aid purchase)

Recommendations address the need for:

• Further medical investigation
• Hearing aids and/or custom hearing protection
• Periodic or follow-up hearing tests

What can you tell your patients about who pays for these services / products?

Hearing aids are not covered by MSP. There is financial assistance for hearing aids available for the following:

• WorkSafe BC if person has a history of work in noise
• Veterans Affairs Canada if person has a history of noise exposure in military FNIHB (First Nations and Inuit Health Branch)
• MHSD (Ministry of Housing and Social Development)
• Private pay – may have extended health benefits that cover part of the cost
