What To Expect

During the appointment with your Audiologist

An evaluation of your hearing involves the audiologist obtaining the following information. There are four main components that will be completed during your appointment:

1.  Your Hearing History

You will be asked question about some of your medical history as well as what situations

2.  The Hearing Test

You will be asked to sit in a quiet room or sound treated booth. The booth is approximately six feet square and has lighting and ventilation. During your time in the room a series of tones of differing volumes will be broadcast, you will either press a button or raise a hand indicating if you hear the tones. You will be asked to repeat some words at differing volumes. You may require a middle ear evaluation, this is a short test that checks the middle ear function using slight changes in pressure followed by a sound reflect check at louder levels

3.  An Explanation

An explanation of the test results so that you understand what your communication challenges are.

4.  Our Recommendation

Recommendations will be made if there is a device or listening program that can help you to hear or communicate better

If there are issues with performing some of the above parts of the test the audiologist will modify the evaluation accordingly.

Dealing with your hearing loss will help you resolve the problems that it has caused or prevent these problems from ever happening. As a certified audiologist I will give you an unbiased, professional assessment and help you understand your choices.
